La Ribera del Ebro, the Ideal Place to Grow Peppers

Thanks to our privileged geographical location, in Congelados de Navarra we can grow all kinds of vegetables, both the ones you would expect from Central and Eastern Europe and also those from southern Europe. The pepper is one of the vegetables that adapts perfectly to our climate.

The season here in Ribera del Ebro begins a little later than in other regions in Spain, but using the best growing technologies and varieties, we have peppers for harvesting green peppers at the beginning of August and for harvesting yellow and red peppers at the end of August.

Our pepper is characterized by being very succulent; the 10 varieties used behave fantastically, and are much thicker than in other geographical areas with a unique sweetness and colour. The high temperatures during the day and cooler temperatures at night, together with the wind, ensure that quality is our strength.

We allocate a total of 700 hectares to cultivation, intensive cultivation, with drip irrigation and plastic in most cases. Our agronomy department, hand in hand with the farmers, controls every detail of the harvest from the beginning and decides when is the perfect moment to harvest to get an optimal pepper.

Once the pepper is in our facilities, we process it in different ways: blanching, pre-fried, roasting or searing. The versatility of processes together with the possibility of different cuts and packaging formats, allows us to offer our customers a wide variety of this product depending on their culinary and professional needs.

The pepper is, almost without doubt, one of the most popular and widely consumed vegetables, since its use in the kitchen is part of the culinary and gastronomic tradition in many parts of the world. In fact, we currently export this vegetable to more than 20 countries, with Europe being our main destination.
